Jelenetfotó 3.3Anteacipation is about the effects of tea on Laz people living on Black Sea Region
of Turkiye. The documentary film, taking place in Arhavi county of Artvin, uses the journey of tea from the fields to the cups as a tool of narration. During this journey we learn about, Laz culture, the living conditions in the region before tea, what has tea brought and what it has taken away.
Harsh nature conditions, deficiency of health care and education establishments are for sure the main reasons of emigration in the region. But Anteacipation focuses on the fact that as wealthy tea farmers in the region longing for more comfortable and luxury lives, leave that paradise like place and those beautiful houses they built collectively with sweat and blood, they leave Laz language and culture to extinction as well.
The documentary tries to take a look at the idea of emigration not only from the emigrants’ point of view but also from the eyes of the ones who are left behind and also the ones craving for those happy days in the past.
