Jelenetfotó 4.4Meera is a girl from a depressed area from Pilhana, Kolkata. There she lives with her family. Poorness, unemployment, violence, and rubbish everywhere are her neighbours. But the most beautifully flowers grow up in the rubbish and she finds hope everyday going to Tara School. NOTA DEL DIRECTOR Those who make documentaries, dream with reality manifesting when we have ready the camera, lighting, sound… so we can perfectly catch the moment. We also dream with founding the right characters who will confess their lives in that brilliant way as we had thought at home. Reality ready just waiting for our camera. It’s not that way, It’s actually about waiting and waiting for what may or not may happen. I found BEING MEERA MALIK story while I was working at NGO Amigos de Tara at Pilkhana in Kolkata (October and December 2007) It’s a story about hope. Before taking out the camera, I had been living with Meera’s family for some time, walking through the streets so I could feel myself like one more. Once I pressed the recording bottom, everything was natural (almost natural) between them and me. Some days a translator who spoke English was with me but I didn’t know the meaning of some dialogues till I was back in Madrid (that made the whole story very lively till the last moment) Being a multitask person while shooting makes the experience very “hand-crafty” in the other hand, it really makes you to go deep into the experience. To me, BEING MEERA MALIK is a story about hope, about flowers which grow up from rubbish, a little story which I wish to share. As Meera says every day while meditating “…that all beings even my enemies, are happy”
