Jelenetfotó 3.3The film “Lost Stories from Bitov” follows up on the network of relationships, the parallel worlds of people from entirely different social backgrounds in South Moravia. It is a sensitive journey into the past of the village of Bitov in the Thaya-Valley, which was flooded by a reservoir in 1933, and its neighbouring castle. Elsa Fischer, the 94-year-old daughter of the former caretaker of Bitov Castle, tells with humour and wisdom, true stories from the period between 1921 and 1945, about the life in the sunken village, the life within the castle walls, to the hasty events at the end of the war. The central figure in her memories is Baron Haas von Hasenfeld who committed suicide in 1945. “He was quite a beautiful man, like painted – his figure, his profile, and everything. For me he was too old in any case!” (Quotation: Elsa Fischer)
