Képeslap5The ethnographic travel documentary tells the story about the work of Polish anthropologist Witold Jacórzyński. Presently he works as a professor in CIESAS Sureste in San Cristobal de Las Casas, Mexico. Witek thinks that our film should give an answer to the following question: Is it worth conserving the traditional culture of Indians if its representatives do not want to do so? The Mexican Indians believe that our film will tell the truth about the modern life of the Indian Maya. We are preparing two different stories. The first part shows the normal life of the Passinsa clan, relations between doctors and patients and Witek’s adopted son - Aurelio. http://www.themayaheritage.tox.pl We go to Chiapas to CIESAS in San Cristobal. We can take pictures about work W. Jacorzynski, when he is teaching students, meeting friends, visiting Indians... Witek holds the view that our film should give an answer to the following question: Is it worth conserving the traditional culture of Indians if its representatives do not want to do so? We show the story of clan Passinsa. They were born in the village of Chimtik, Chenalho municipality, in the Mexican state of Chiapas. Their native culture is that of the Tzotzil Indians. Inhabitants of Chimtik speak Tzotzil, one of the Mayan languages. The village had converted to Presbyterianism in the 1950s Interviews with members of the clan. Doctors and patients- new anthropology, Juan, Esteąs brother, whom Witold calls a hybrid person, takes her to see a doctor in Tuxla. The doctor talks to his patient, and tells Juan about sister's illness. Along the way we visit a lot of doctors and hospitals where she had to stay but she couldn’t because they didn’t have money. Witold presents the results of his research so far.
