Kimon Tsakiris (*1974) holds an LLM in International Law with specialty in European Media (U.E.L) and a PhD in International Economics (University of Maastricht). He has studied filmmaking in the UK, Spain and the Netherlands. At the University of Barcelona he produced a series of documentaries about prostitution, gay culture and correctional institutions together with 'The Audiovisual Techniques Research Team'. His first fiction film ‘86.400 (The Day After?)’, about life after death as presented to us by the church, won the Award for Best Film and a special mention for Editing at the International Panorama of the Thessaloniki Film Festival in 2004. ‘86.400 (The Day After?)’ also won the 1st Prize at the Greek Fantasy Film Festival in 2005. His first documentary ‘The Stranger’, a documentary about alienation leading to xenophobia, received a special mention from the film critics at the Drama International Film Festival (2004). He is currently working on his second fiction film ‘The Owl or why not to Turn your Child into a Scientist’, the story of a man who failed in everything else in his life, apart from becoming a successful scientist. He is the co-founder of Bi-Optic Productions, a company specializing in computer generated imagery and digital visualisation.
